Our Gastroenterology Services
Epsomedical accepts referrals for gastrointestinal problems of all types, including dyspepsia or bloating, suspected oesophagitis or gastritis, unexplained anaemia or weight loss where cancer is not suspected. Urgent suspected cancer should not be sent to Epsomedical. Where cancer is discovered as a result of investigations we carry out, patients will be transferred on to the cancer centre of their choosing.
Patients requiring gastroscopy will be listed at either of our units. Our units are both JAG accredited, meaning we comply with the very highest standards for endoscopy pathway, procedure and reporting management.
Alternatively, GPs can refer patients directly for gastroscopy. All patients will have the procedure carried out within 6 weeks from referral. Patients will be required to complete an online medical questionnaire to make sure that they are suitable for our units should they require sedation. This will be explained in the appointment letter we send in response to the referral. A list of factors that would exclude patients from being sedated for endoscopy at our units can be viewed here.
